One
of the most enchanting Holiday destinations
in all the world is located right here
in Orange County. The historic downtown
is lined in brilliantly changing trees,
the air is crisp and the Mission's lush
gardens are bathed in the soft light of
the season. In minutes Orange County residents
can be transported into another world
to shop and dine in the new West of "Old
Capistrano". Here surrounded by Old World
Spanish and European Architecture, visitors
shop and dine experiencing a truly rare
and unspoiled piece of Orange County's
history while establishing a holiday tradition
of their own.
The
launch of San Juan Capistrano's Holiday
season is the downtown Christmas Tree
Lighting in Heritage Park scheduled this
year on December 4, 2004 at 5:00 pm. There
is a live Nativity, Santa makes a visit
and shops and restaurants have open house
greeting strollers with refreshments from
warm soup to cookies and pastries. The
Mission is open late and is filled with
the sounds of the season.
In December (date TBA), at 6:50 the annual Christmas
Train will arrive at the Capistrano Depot
as children of all ages wait with anticipation
and the train decked in lights pulls in
to pick up Christmas gifts for children
in need.
